Extra! Extra! Read All About It! (Camper Mail Policy)

Camper Mail Policy

Receiving mail is a summer camp tradition! And at Camp Cho-Yeh, you have three different ways you can send a little extra love to your camper while they are having the best week of their summer!

Please note: DO NOT SEND ANY MAIL DIRECTLY TO CAMP during your camper’s session. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that your camper will receive it because we cannot control what happens to the mail once it’s in the hands of the Post Office (delays, mishandling, losing, not receiving it at all, etc.).

Option 1: Pack It

There’s something extra special about opening a letter or little surprise right in the middle of the day – especially when it’s been packed just for them. Instead of mailing things in, we encourage you to pre-pack your camper’s notes or small items directly in their trunk before they arrive. Just label each envelope or package with their full name and the day you want them to open it.

Every day during “Cabin Time,” where campers get a chance to rest in their bunks or hang out at their campsite, counselors will prompt campers to open any mail they were given for that specific day.

📌 Please refer to our list of “What Not to Pack” before sending mail with your camper.

Option 2: Email

Want to send a little love from home without needing an envelope or stamp? We’ve got you! Send a “live letter” to your camper anytime while they’re away.

Here’s how it works: Log into your parent account and write to them through the “Email” section. Our staff print out the emails at 10AM each day, and campers receive them at lunch.

This is a free service through Campminder, but you have the option to include add-ons in your email (like a word game or a photo) which require you to pay Campstamps.

💌 You can purchase Campstamps in your parent account or use any leftovers from previous years.

.

Option 3: Care Packages

If you’re looking to give your camper an unexpected surprise, a care package is the way to go! Our Trading Post team has created exclusive bundles full of fun surprises – everything from unique Camp gear to themed items you won’t find anywhere else. If you order a care package, it will be specially delivered to your camper’s cabin on Tuesday so they can wear, use, play, draw, + more with their unique goodies for the rest of the week.

🎁 Take a few minutes to check out this year’s selection and pre-order one using the “Other Goodies Form” in your parent account (under “Forms and Documents”) to make sure your camper gets theirs before they (inevitably) sell out!

Why Send Mail?

Opening mail at summer camp is a nostalgic activity. The thrill of seeing your name on an envelope, the excitement of hearing from home, or even that special letter from a friend… it’s like a little piece of the outside world finding its way in the middle of all the adventure. We want to provide this classic experience to all of our campers to help make Camp feel like home in the best way possible!

Letters and care packages can serve as a small reminder that you are thinking about your camper, which can be very reassuring to them. If this is your camper’s first time away from home, you’re worried about them getting homesick, or if you just want to send some encouragement, this is a great way to show them some love that you might not get to do year-round!
